Careful use of SSN's helps ensure that your earnings are properly credited. The following steps should be taken:
Employers should ask each employee to provide the name and SSN as it appears on the Social Security card;
Employers should be careful to correctly record each employee's number; and
If you are self-employed, you should accurately record your SSN on your Federal tax reports and returns.
