ESPlanner reports a 0 for Recommended Spending
Occasionally ESPlanner reports a 0 standard of living (consumption) for a profile. What this means is that ESPlanner has detected a "negative consumption" situation. "Negative consumption" means that, given your assets, income, and expenses, ESPlanner can't come up with a solution that provides you with a standard of living that is greater than 0, basically implying that you can't afford your current lifestyle.
To fix this you must either:
- Cut consumption (spend less).
- Increase income (earn more or get a better return on assets).
- Allow yourself to borrow money (go into debt). See Assumptions->Maximum Indebtedness.
Note this only occurs in older versions of ESPlanner. Newer version will report a warning when negative consumption occurs
