Children Consumption

ESPlanner now allows us to select the age a child is considered no longer part of the household, therefore no longer part of consumption. This is great since many clients expressed they did not feel their expenses would decrease until their child finished college.

The issue is when creating a new plan for a family with a child who is in college and is over age 18. ESPlanner does not allow you to add a child over age 18. So a family with a child age 19 that you want considered for consumption for 3 years is not possible.

I realize the work around is to add expenses to "Special Expenses", but it would be nice to allow input for children over age 18.

I simply input my child's birthdate as two years later than it actually is. It there a problem with that approach?

2

Yes, that actually works. You just have to watch that tax deduction you get for a kid that is 16 or younger. So two years younger would be fine.
