Is there any plans for future updates with 529/Coverdell account input. I am familiar with your suggested work-around using a special receipt and special expenditure, but find it somewhat cumbersome and would like to see a college account feature.

We've discussed it any number of times and, in general, are in favor of supplying such a feature, but there always seems to be something more immediate and urgent and we seem to be short on tu-its.
So, yes, we would like to do this. No, there aren't any current commitments to do so.
