Contingent Planning: Survivor Social Security

I am attempting to model my early death with life insurance that we will keep despite ESPlanner's good advice. We purchased it because it was cheaper insurance than my pension survivor benefit. I thought contingent planning was my vehicle until it did not work and I read the posts here that recommend running specific cases of my death at various ages.

In the course of my attempt, I tried to delay my wife's Social Security withdrawal to age 66. I made the appropriate "Retirement benefit collection date" entries in both the main assumption screen and in the contingent section. I got what I think are conflicting results in my PDF report.

The detail section heading "Spouse's Social Security Benefits" started payments at age 66, as expected. The "Spouse's Social Security Benefts" section of the survivor report shows her starting to receive payments at age 62. Is this right?

Doesn't sound like it. Can you upload your database (via the My ESPlanner page on the website) and include a description of the problem and details on how to reproduce it?

Thanks,

I know that I am tired and will use that as an excuse. It still makes me feel stupid to ask this: "what My ESPlanner page on the web site?" I would like to send you my database but cannot find that link to do it on.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to be logged in to see the My ESPlanner link, on the top, left.

Thank you for the tip. I found the upload feature and have to start a 9-hour drive. I cannot take the time now to write up the problem carefully so will send everything to you on Sunday.
