Demographics

When you decrease the maximum age in the plan, the age for last withdrawal for retirement accounts adjusted automatically. When you increase the maximum age the retirement section does not get adjusted, it needs to be done manually. It would be nice to have it automatic for both scenarios.

There actually is a reason for not doing so. IIRC, it's because we can't tell when we should increase the age of withdrawal. Consider:

1. Person sets end of withdrawal to age 95.

2. Person changes demographics to live to 105.

3. Should the end of withdrawal change?

No.

So we can tell when we have to adjust it downward (you can't draw money after you're dead) but we can't tell if we should adjust it upward because the user may have set it somewhere appropriately and may not want it change.

You could argue that we shouldn't adjust the age of withdrawal downward either, just leave unused retirement assets in the estate and make things equally inconvenient when demographics change, but we elected to do the the obvious adjustment.
