This work-around will stop the premiums; but, what about the end of the insurance coverage in the plan at a future date?

ESPlanner buys life insurance based on the needs to maintain the survivor standard of living. The only way to prevent that is to lower the survivor's standard of living in the assumptions.
Right now there isn't any way to account for exogenous life insurance policies.
