Error Messages

This is probably a problem with my computer and not ESPlanner, but I thought I would throw it out there in case you could offer any insight or guidance.

I loaded ESPlanner on a second laptop so I could use ESPlanner while my primary laptop was in the shop getting repaired. The download seemed to install successfully, but I am getting two different error messages - (1) When I open ESPlanner, I get a message that says, "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Dell Resource CD disk and click OK". If I click CANCEL a few times, ESPlanner opens; (2) When I select Economics-Based Planning with Monte Carlo, I get a message that says, "The path specified for assets files failed to load. Please specify a new directory".

I loaded ESPlanner on my wife's computer just to see what would happen and everything seemed to be OK.

A message that says, "The path specified for assets files failed to load. Please specify a new directory"

indicates that perhaps the directory where these assets are loaded is not correct. You an check it in the Help/Customize area of the program. You can also click restore (or shift-restore) in the Monte Carlo screen (bottom right) to reset those assets.

The CD-ROM request is about a installer bug that Microsoft has promised to fix for us but somehow never seems to get fixed.

If you can call Microsoft Windows support you may be able to get it resolved. Just as a warning, at first they won't believe you because this is supposed to be impossible.

Also look at the FAQ pages for the fix from a previous example of this that's similar. Try that fix and it may work.
