PLUS Version not showing Survivor Results

I'm running version 2.10.24 and I'm new user.

Trying to learn how to see the survivor results, but having no luck with any additional reports.

I've turn on the extended PDF reports (and tries with and without CONTENGENT On/Off) and I get no report on the impact of our possible deaths.

The only major PDF report categories are: "Report for ___;" Inputs & Assumptions; Recommendations; Details; Monte Carlo Results.

Am I missing something?

One more piece of info. If I do a "Create Report" with CONTINGENCY ON and "Survivor Results" check ON, I get a reasonable recommendation for Insurance for me and my wife (I'm the bigger income producer and so her life insurance recommendation is at $0). But no contingent report.

But if I turn off CONTINGENT OFF and click OFF the Survivor Results options, I get HUGE increases in her insurance recommendations (almost a $450K), which is double what we expect for her to bring in as salary over the last 5 years of our working careers. This makes no financial sense (that I can see) and would appear to be part of the possible "bug." Note that this large insurance request goes for just two years (2008 & 2009) and then goes down to zero.

[Just to complete all of the possible combinations, if I turn CONTINGENT ON and leave Survivor Results OFF I get the same results high wife insurance results as CONTINGENT OFF and Survivor results OFF. Also note that I did COPY all the Contingent Plans (CHECK ALL and COPY) to make sure the scenarios were the same . . . and remember from the above post that I get NO contingent reports.]

Ok, this is a partial resolution to my own problems.

I suspected some possible database problems, so I attempted to use the FILE and COMPRESS. But this would never complete, so I ended up REINSTALLING the software.

USER (me) ERROR: In reinputing my data, I realized that I made the error of not putting in a cost basis for my home, which caused large taxes to be paid if I sold the home and downsized. And I suspect the high insurance numbers was there to pay the tax.

AFTER the reinstall: the SURVIVOR reports started appearing. So this points to the problems with my original install.

And this point with the new fresh install (I had to re-enter my data) and the catching of my own error, I'm back up and running.

Consider case closed.

It's good that it is resolved, but it seems to me unlikely that the survivor report not appearing would be related to the installation. It may be related to input (like something missing). I am not aware of anything in the computation engine that would allow for the UI to create a main or detailed report and fail on Survivor. It may have been or is a bug.

If you can open Help->Support Center in ESPlanner and then click Save Logfile, note the location of the file (My DocumentsMy ESPlanner) and send me the logf file by e-mail. The log file recycles itself about every six months so info may still be in there that may explain what happened.
