Real Asset Income discrepancy
On the Regular Savings tab of the Asset & Savings page, I have inputted approximately $500,000 split between Savings and Checking, Money Market, Mutual Funds, Stocks, and Bonds/CDs. However, on the next tab - Current Savings - the self computed line "Real Asset Income" computes a negative number (-$15,000). I believe this is throwing off my Current Savings number which is affecting the results in my report.

Are you by any chance using Monte Carlo?
Best,
Dick Munroe
Actually, yes. When I turned Monte Carlo off, the results were normal. What is the logic behind this?
Because there's a bug somewhere (either the user interface, the Microsoft implementation of the Jet database engine, or the database, we're not sure quite where yet) which shows up as a corruption in the classification of assets when Monte Carlo is turned on. I spotted this while I was in transit from Honduras this week and we're [clearly] not sure of the cause, but we're working towards a solution as I type.

Has this bug been fixed?
rwhillman at yahoo.com wrote:Has this bug been fixed? Not yet, but it's being worked on. I'm not sure of the exact status as I'm not the UI dude (primarily).

Hi, we are aware that there are several bugs, including the one mentioned in this string that need to be fixed. We should be posting an update later today that does fixes all UI bugs of which we are aware. I'm sorry for the delay. None of the bugs involved here impact the recommendations per se, but they do affect calculations of current behavior (saving and consumption) when Monte is activated. I apologize for these bugs and the delays in getting them fixed. But please be aware that we really hate to have any bugs in the program and are working into the wee hours to fix them. It takes a long time in some cases because the interface is complex and any fixes need to be carefully tested, often on different versions of Windows. Anyway, I'm hoping today -- Sept. 13th, we'll be posting a new update that fixes what you mention here and other issues, including reliably turning Monte on and off.
I am having the same problem. Except that turning Monte Carlo off doesn't solve the problem.
Apparently this bug was never fixed, as I am experiencing it in July 2011.
Open a support ticket for bugs you find. So we can reproduce the problem, we need your database and/or a description of your inputs.
Just started using the program. I too am still getting a 'negative asset income' inserted under the Current Saving tab. What's status of this bug fix?
This is a different problem than what's described. It will be fixed in the next update
