Transferring Data Files between Computers

How can I transfer a clients Data file between computers? I like to compile the data on my desktop, and then present it via my laptop.

1

The database file is called ESPLanner.mdb If you take that file from the one computer and move it to the other computer, replacing the file with the same name, that should do it.

2

I think there's one too many capital letters in the file name. It should be:

ESPlanner.mdb

Best,

Dick Munroe

Oops. Actually the default database name is ESPDatabase.mdb (with caps in the first four letters).

The file name is not case sensitive.

Dan is correct, that the file can be moved. But, be careful that the file you are opening is the file that you THINK you are opening.

The database file is specified explicitly in the start-up icon placed on your desktop during installation. This icon opens the database installed when you installed ESPlanner. You may use multiple database files. However, the one opened when you click the icon will be the specific one identified during installation.

Too many people were "losing" the database which is the reason it's done this way.

The location and actual file name for the database is very flexible. Read the FAQ pages for a complete description of how to manage the database file.

I use "synctoy" for ES Planner and Quicken and TurboTax and it works fine to keep the laptop and desktop synched.
