Wife's Earnings do not show on report! Consumption changes
I have been working at ESPlanner for a few weeks now and have just gotten a base case completed that looks reasonable. I have studied the reports, know where the numbers are coming from and can follow them reasonably well. My base case assumes that my wife and I will keep our jobs until I am 66, she is 62, and we can simultaneously start receiving Social Security benefits. Consumption calculates to $40,000 under this scenario.
I then ran a report assuming that I would start receiving Social Security at age 62, while keeping my job that is not covered by Social Security. I can see that it is a dumb idea for me to take Social Security while having a job, but that is not my question at this time. What is troubling is that my wife's earning do not post to the reports and my current consumption drops from $40,000 to $25,000. More exactly, her 2006 salary appears on the main report and then is not shown for the years to 2001. On the detail report, her income does not even appear for 2006.
Is there something about my taking Social Security benefits that wipes out my wife's income?
What is even more difficult to understand is that my recommended consumption under this scenario is over $50,000. If I could see that my wife's income is included in the calculations, I could make sense of it but I am concerned that something is wrong with the program, with the way I have input the data, or with the way I am reading the reports.
I look forward to your comments.
Thnak you.

Tag,
please email me your data base. Your wife's earnings should show up in the non-asset income report for each year they are entered. In general, it's best to contact us directly at eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%69%6e%66%6f%40%65%73%70%6c%61%6e%6e%65%72%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%69%6e%66%6f%40%65%73%70%6c%61%6e%6e%65%72%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) on issues like this.
We've had no other bug reports like this. So I'm very eager to run your data base myself and see what's going on.
best, Larry
Thank you for your very quick reply. I have just sent the database to your e-mail address.

Tag, Seems to be a bug in the Save As. The Save As button didn't save your wife's earnings correctly. We'll work on this tomorrow and see if it's a general problem or specific to your database. Very strange. Anyway, we'll be back in touch. best, Larry
Thank you. I am constantly amazed by the time stamps on your postings.

Fix is now posted as 2.8.4 R1.
Just to close the loop on this exchange, Tag was reporting a bug in the Save As functionality, which we introduced by increasing back to age 16 the fields for post covered Social Security earnings. This bug is now fixed. best, Larry
